Maria Earle definitely set the stage for 2021 with a MasterClass session on the Wunda. Not only with the work she led the group through but with the sellout of the series in short order and the need to add more slots for more teachers. Then the February session with Alycea Ungaro sold out days afterwards, April 2021 with Brooke Siler sold out before the snowstorm walloped TX, May 2021 with Christina Gadar is 60% filled and June thru October were confirmed with three more #FavoriteTeachers that already have their rosters filling up.
I specifically targeted a few #PilatesBrothers to join the Squad on the Reformer with Saul Choza in March, and it looks as if that session will close out before the end of February! I am not finished pushing for more, brothers, BTW; so please don’t assume your are off the hook in those PMs.
This new space is as invigorating and exciting as it may be challenging. Change is good and adapting to it is the only way to stay current and in the game.
One Year Ago
February 2020 marked the last time the Squad could actually touch each other, sweat, hug and kiss each other after a LIVE sweat session with a #2ndGenMaster. That was at Lisa Serradilla’s NY studio with Phoebe Higgins. As soon as we can get back, we will, and thrillingly we turned on the dime and kept it going in the changed format. In fact, as a result of the virtual series and the work that happened in the Fall 2020 sessions, we nudged, guided and supported Phoebe Higgins onto the “virtual channel” with hopefully more semi-private virtual sessions going forward; she helped open the door to connecting with Peter Roel for June 2021.
And, it was with dogged follow up that a calendar slot with Chris Robinson and Cynthia Shipley were added to the Fall 2021 lineup for September and October, respectively. I am still holding the last two months open for a certain principal teacher, Deborah Lessen.
This is happening! I am beyond thrilled with the effort! Dancers, athletes and students of Kathy Grant and Romana Kryzanowska are the common thread with all of the #2ndGenMasters. They are free flow movers, rhythmic masters, teachers and movement integrators. I selected the teachers most admired, the ones that moved me while watching; the teaching styles that captured my attention. The teachers I wanted to experience as a student, the ones with whom I wanted a private or semi-private session with, the ones with whom I most wanted to share a cup of coffee, a spot of tea or glass of wine. The teachers with whom I wanted to develop and enjoy a friendship and relationship with as a student of the Pilates Method.
Feedback from PilatesSistersSquad teachers that have participated, both stateside from VA, NJ, NY, CA, PA, IL, etc., to London, France and Italy have filled me up with so many notes of appreciation for the joy of the work together and have seconded the selection of teachers invited to lead the virtual squad members.
Today, the country is blanketed with snow, ice and frigid temperatures; I will get my first Covid-19 vaccine this afternoon and join my #PilatesSisters and #PilatesBrothers in the creation of spaces and places that our work can safely continue. In a phrase, #WeGotThis and we will #KeepItMoving!
